While still at school Year 11 and Year 12 students can complete a work based SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant or complete up to 40% of a SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing. The model commonly used is for the student to undertake the traineeship at the salon one day per week. MIG Training delivers the formal part of the traineeship program providing training at school, college or the workplace. The best place for a student to start is to talk with the school vocational coordinator or contact us directly on 33496538 for more advice.
MIG Training deliver a school program at our college campus, at the Trinity College campus – La Valla trade training centre and the YMCA School. The program includes a 40 week SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant. Students have the option in Year 12 to continue on and complete and additional 40 weeks of study toward a SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing. The program provides a clear path for students to enter an apprenticeship with up to 40% of the trade qualification completed.
Through our school network, MIG Training offer a select number of SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant scholarships each year. These scholarships are undertaken at college over a 12 week duration . The scholarship program is strongly supported by our salon community with many graduates going on to apprenticeships after graduation. Scholarship availability can be discussed with your school vocational coordinator or by contacting us directly on 33496538.
